Impossible Mission 3 - freeware discontinued (?) fangame

Mon Oct 12, 2020 12:18 am

Hello everyone,
maybe here I'm off topic but I wanted to share what we're doing with the right audience. Given the popularity of Impossible Mission I e II, which are among the most loved C64 classics, I hope our project may be of some interest for you.

Impossible Mission III (freeware indie third installment of the series) is a work in progress game for PC (not for the C64, sorry). It's the long work of years of passion for the two classic games (personally I don't count IM2025 as canonical, mainly because it wasn't good nor consistent with the first two). This third chapter was designed to be faithful to the style, graphics and sound of the originals though introducing new features.

The announcement of IM3 comes when the game, albeit not completed, isn't so far from a beta release for testing, open to everyone who wants to contribute.

Information about the game can be found in the development blog here:

Thank you for your time, fellow C64ers!
Davide

The graphics look amazing!
I wonder what the speech samples are going to sound like...

I can't wait to test it. 8)

Thank you for your interest.
Since the goal of the project is to remain faithful to the previous games, so far the speech samples include the originals from the IM1 and IM2 sids, reworked versions, combinations and a lot of tweaked material from other C64 programs of the early Eighties that featured Electronic Speech Systems' samples.
You'll hear more of it soon both on our blog and here.

looks beautiful!

I am very impressed by the idea of diagonal elevators.
Although a really simple idea, I wonder if anyone else had it! It´s the small things that really make a difference...

I can confirm the project isn't dead, at all, it just slowed down as always happens with fan games due to real life problems, side-effects of the pandemic on my finances, family issues, my father who died of Covid, etc.
Soon I'll post new material and maybe a playable demo!

If the Impossible Mission III project for PC had been completed and released (in a parallel universe), today would be that day! We would have had a total of nine modules making up Elvin's space station, along with a large number of puzzle games, new robots and new features (actually a lot of them), intros, cutscenes, etc. The screenshots below depict two additional settings: the cargo module (with an example of gravity inversion) and Elvin's computers module and robot factory.
It's a pity this game doesn't exist as a downloadable file anywhere. Maybe it doesn't exist at all, who knows?
