Gamebase on tablet with Win 8 and i5 CPU ?

Tue Feb 24, 2015 10:48 pm

I'm going to buy a tablet with Windows 8.1 and i5 processor. My "ZERO CONFIGURATION MODE" uploads contains automated Gamebase installation/emulators configuration and I want to extend it to the new device. The question is... which tablet will be good to have 100% working speed of WinUAE, ePSXe, NO$GBA & Project 64 v1.7 ? I don't know mobile CPU's power, that is why asking. Can Dell Venue Pro 11 with i5-4201Y be fast enough to have it working with 100% speed? :D

Hi Dax,

Not well informed on tablet compatability for GameBase.

I would guess you need something like a Surface Pro 4 (out soon).
which is rumoured to have 1TB storage.
It also has a keyboard attachment, making it more like a laptop.
Which would be my choice over a tablet. ;)

It's not essential to have an i5 or i7
For full speed, you just need one with a dedicated graphics card.
Nvidia or ATI Radeon.
Even a core 2 duo will be fast enough if it has a graphics card.

I think for filters with WINUAE higher CPU is a MUST (especially single core speed is the most important). Also I plan to use it with XBOX ONE joypad, so keyboard will be useful only to press 1, 2 or 3 (automated batch selection). SURFACE is very expensive and mostly overpriced. Thinking about LENOVO THINKPAD with i7 and 256GB SSD (for speed) and for MAME. Can find it for good price.
