GB64 v5 Screenshots

Sat Mar 06, 2010 10:04 pm

What emulator (or other program) was used to make to make the .PNG screenshots?

I'm asking because Some of the games didn't have title-screen shots. I used WinVICE64 v2.1 to snap some. They were of a different size and had some other differences, so I used IrfanView v4.25 to re-size them and such, but they look like crap. :? I then tried using the CCS64 v3.3 that came with GB64 v5 and got the same results.

What should I do to make proper screenshots like the ones made in the v5 Collection? :?:

Thanks in advance.

You can take borderless screenshots with CCS64.
To do this, add/change these lines in C64.CFG:

Code: Select all

$SCREENSHOTSTARTX=128)
$SCREENSHOTSTOPX=448)
$SCREENSHOTSTARTY=51)
$SCREENSHOTSTOPY=251)

warning
this is only good for c64 games that don't use the border area.
--------------------

To remove border the border from pictures snapped in WinVice with dimentions 384x271.
crop the borders and resize them to 320x200.

open the picture in Irfan View.
from the menu select
Batch Conversion/ Rename

select these options
> Batch conversion

Output format:
PNG - Portable Network Graphics
> Use advanced options

Click the Advanced Button.
tick this option
>CROP

enter these values in the boxes
X-Coord: 32 Y-Coord: 35
Width: 320 Height:200

DO NOT TICK ANY OTHER OPTIONS.
leave them all blank

Click OK

select "Add all" to your oversized pictures directory.

Browse and select the Output directory for result files:
C:\TEMP\

Click
Start Batch

.
thats it 8)

i would personally keep your screens with the borders
if they are all the same size from the WinVICE emulator.

There is a new feature in Gamebase v1.3 where you can resize the screenshot window.
edit the settings.ini in your gamebase directory, and change/ add these values to the new larger size.

SETTINGS.INI

Code: Select all

Thanks, K.C. I tried that and it worked, though I had to change the 51 and 251 to 50 and 250 to get it right.

I made like nearly twenty title-screen shots that were missing from the v5 Collection. (Dunno if they're in the latest v7, though.) Take a look here, clicking on the thumbnails:

If you want to grab them for your Collection, be sure to rename the files properly.

Thanks, .mad. I didn't know that there was a v1.3 of the GameBase frontend. I'm assuming that it comes with the new v7 of the Collection. I'm downloading that now. Thereafter, I will try your method as I prefer WinVICE64 over CCS64.

Hmm...the GameBase v1.3 frontend doesn't seem to be in the new v7, and I can't find it for download anywhere. I had assumed it would be with the latest GameBase64 or something.

How/Where can I get the new v1.3 of the frontend?

There isn't an official V1.3 release ATM, but you can find discussions about new features and download beta versions in this thread.
Note that it's still a beta and it converts the MDB files to a new format, so make a backup of your databases before opening them in one of the beta versions.

Thanks, .mad. I just made a bunch of screenshots of Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar (which I'm now playing) and did that stuff that you said and it worked great! Thank you very, very much! :D

And thanks again, K.C. I got that v1.3 and am using it now! It's better than v1.2 (I think).

So did anyone get any of the title-screen shots I made? Has anyone used them?

Yeah, so is anyone using these title-screens other than me? ???
