Thank you, .mad, for posting this. As before, this has been a tremendous help to me sorting these roms out. A couple questions, though. Your batch file went great, except that twice it asked if I wanted to overwrite a couple games, so I just clicked Y, and then it continued on. When I verify the games now in gamebase, it says missing 10/1120. Is that how it should be? Also, as I had stated in an earlier post, my goodset 3.00 consisted of entirely .32x and .gen files, so those are what I have zipped up individually. Will those .gen roms play okay, or are they going to be a problem? Are the .gen roms what the goodset should be, or should they be .bin or .smd, or doesn't it matter?
Also, I almost just had a small stroke. After I verified the roms in gamebase, I started to scroll through the games, to see some of the screenshots, when suddenly, as I was scrolling up, everything froze. For several minutes, my computer wouldn't do anything. This happened to me a few months back as I was setting up another gamebase, but I don't remember now which one. That time, I used the task manager to end the gamebase, which worked, but then when I tried to restart gamebase, it was all corrupted, and just threw an error at me. I don't remember how I fixed it, but I think I had to delete the gamebase entry in the registry, and then when I restarted gamebase, it recreated a new registry entry, and it ran okay. It hasn't happened again since then, up until just now. This time, I left the computer alone, and after a few minutes, it worked itself out, and the gamebase seems okay now.
Any ideas what might have happened? It happens as I scroll quickly upwards, after I scroll down through the games. Has that ever happened to anybody else here?
Thanks again for posting the fixes, .mad, and thanks, SexyWayne, for the original post. I'm very glad to have a nice Megadrive Gamebase now.

hello oknihcap
the error you mentioned can happen after a MDB has been edited.
and the gamebase points to a bad or missing link.
using the scan and fix errors option normally fixes it.
it will continue to freeze until the offending link is removed.

that could be my fault. :D
this one works for me.

http://rapidshare.de/files/40772204/SMD.rar.html

there will be missing files after the audit
they are CD games.

But i will need to know what else is missing, so i can fix it.

the above zshare link contains a bad mdb file
but has some extra files

I am also getting covers missing 179 of 179. Games are missing 10 (CD games?). I guess I'm okay that the roms I'm using are .gen?

Wayne it is then :)

I know what you mean re time and dedication..

When I had the drive to do things I never had enough time in the day, now I have the time the old dedication has long slipped away.

It's the old issue, as a child you look at what the adults do and wish you could grow up as fast as possible. Sadly when you become an older adult you really wished you had your child times back again...

Fist off HUGE thans to SexyWayne. Good job on the Gamebase.

Well I hope you don't mind but I just used your gamebase as the starting point for a "Sega Genesis US Gamebase"

Image

Mine is alittle heavier that yours, weighing in at 1.67gig's currently.

I removed all non-US released roms (replacing a few), added a couple (like 6-Pak and Sonic Classics) leaving me with 739 games. I have soundtracks for 458 games. I have manual scans (pdf) for 210 games. And I have Cover scans displaying for all but one game. (Anyone have a cover scan for Bio-Ship Paladin?)

Image

I will be putting up a torrent soon if anyone is interested in my version of this Gamebase... 8)

Thanks again SexyWayne. I could not have put this together without your Gamebase.
