Issue with rezipping and the Run_GameFile() command

Sun Mar 09, 2014 1:00 pm

Ok, I have a bunch of Windows games in my Gamebase, since they natively run in Windows, they do not require any emulator, so instead of the default Run_Emulator(), I use the Run_GameFile() at the end of the script, this is great, I can play them all just with one click, but the dialog, "Waiting for the emulator is close..." no longer pops up, it doesn't rezip and update and I lose all my saved files and progress everytime I finish playing a game.

Is there a way around this?

To save any game data from gamebase, you must have the game /folder zipped.

try this..

set and create a dummy file as the emulator.
can be anything as you are not going to run it anyway.
example.

run.bat

set your windows files, as emulator supported file types.

emulators.ini
SupportedTypes=EXE;BAT;COM

you should now be able link the EXE inside the ZIP from GameBase.

When you now run the game, gamebase should extract it to the rezip folder before running it.

Yeah at first I was trying to create a dummy emulator, but was having too many issues there also.

But just solved it by adding by adding in a simple line

Show_Message(Click OK after the game is completely closed), it causes it to wait, then it checks for changes and prompts if re-zipping is needed, it works, and it no longer just checks it immediately after it is run and presumes i'm not playing it!

:D
