I now have started work on a Oric Gamebase called Oric-mania and hope to have a release in a few weeks time.

Most games should autostart in Euphoric apart from a few that need you to type run and hit return when the game has loaded.

Only if you use mess do you need to type cload"" and then run.

some games only work on an Oric, and some only on a Atmos.

I can't seem to get anything to run. I have Euphoric listed 1st under Gemus, but no matter what I click, a black box opens for just a second, some text appears too quickly to read, then the box disappears again. All my paths are correct (assuming Euphoric.exe is the correct exe to point to). I've tried moving Mess Atmos to the top, and then some games seem to open a tiny window, but then it waits for a command. I'm unfamiliar with the Oric, though. What do I do from here? Is this where I type cload ""? I'm assuming I type the name of the game inbetween quotes, but do I type the full rom title? I've tried the full title, including the .zip, and it made modem noises like it was loading, but then it stopped, and nothing happened, and the curser froze. I've tried that with 2 games. As an example, I'm trying to play Space:1999, but It doesn't seem to run no matter what emulator I list first. Am I doing something wrong?

Try downloading Euphoric and installing it. That got it working for me. icon_cool.gif
I can't figure out Mess either... icon_rolleyes.gif

But I already have Euphoric - it came with the gamebase. It just isn't working.

I've had some success running mess in the past with other systems, but I just don't get how to run this particular system on it. It just doesn't seem to want to run any games.

If I try to run the games on Euphoric, nothing happens. If I try to run them on Mess, it acts like it is loading, but then the curser freezes, and nothing happens.

I know that Euphoric is there but I think it is missing something from a true install. When I tried to run the one that comes with the GB it crashed my box... I removed it and then installed it proper and it worked.

Okay, I downloaded and installed the top link, and it seems to run, except that when I run a game, an error message pops up and says "16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem

C:Progra~1\Oric\Euphoric\euphoric.exe
The system cannot open COM1 port requested by the application. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application"

If I hit close, it closes, and if I hit ignore, then the game loads and runs. Should I have downloaded the bottom link instead?

Also, is there a way I can configure euphoric? I'm running a widescreen monitor, and the screen is completely stretched, because the aspect ratio is incorrect. Is there a configuration screen where I can change that?

the idea was to install using the OLD version,
and overwrite the installed files with the NEW version Build 1009.
------
you also need to run "Setup.js" as mentioned in the manual.
which adds all the REG Settings.

in the Euphoric (bulid 1007) directory that came with the OricMania gamebase archive.
there is a file called "configuratoric.exe"
also a help file (French.)

run this and select
system / screen mode X
quit and run Euphoric
the emu runs in full screen (F10 quits).
the aspect looks ok on my widescreen monitor.

if this doesn't work for you.
your graphic card settings might be the problem.??

change your SYSTEM Screen resoultion
in your Display Properties / Settings.
and experiment with a few sizes.

mine are set as 1680 by 1050
colour quality highest (32bit)

Good Luck!
