Hi, Gang
Just downloaded this gamebase from UG after seeing the link to
the forum an Gamebase site by BU22 and i am a little confused
over the file size difference.
On Gamebase BU22 it is 590Mb
and on UG it is only 99.25Mb
So i am wondering if i have downloaded the correct version
or not as the case may be.

Hi,
My guess is you have the first v1 release.
There are 2 updated releases of the original in total.
the SMS Gamebase update 2 (7 zipped) is about 144MB.
dated 20 march 2010.
it has 985 GameBase entries (1020 ROM files) for all these systems
Sega Master System
Game Gear
SG1000
SF700
SC3000
Othello Multi Vision
the larger size is that of My Folder which has stuff not in the released version and an alternate set of roms including bad dumps.
The true unziped size your looking for is closer to 330MB

Thanks for the reply Mad.
I have had a good look on GU and cannot find the updated
files.
Have tried searching for SMS, SMS gamebase and SMS III
without luck.
Does it have a different name.

you won't find it on UG.
I only upload on file-share sites and post links here.
Mark uploaded quite a few of my old Gamebases on UG a while ago, due to broken download links here.
Then Dax uploaded everything again on mirror sites.
But as you might know, file-share sites are being taken down or blocked by ISP everyday. Making the job of re-uploading a weekly task.
I might update and upload it again, when i get the time.

Hi Mad
OK mate.
I did notice that many of the file sites now have the FBI
anti piracy page up. In fact i have not come across any
of those type links that have worked in ages.
I bought several yearly premium accounts in places like
rapid, mega etc, just over a year ago and never really got
anything out of them, so i let them expire.
I will wait around in hope that you will get time at some
point to update and upload.

Hoping the newest version gets posted - Mediafire works fantastic, not sure why it's not used more. Wonderful for free users, it's fast and no wait time. I honestly don't know why more people don't use it.

After a few years, i decided to remake the gamebase from scratch.
it's not 100% finished but i am sharing it now.
Any future updates will be very small and these packs will not be re-uploaded.

Thats quick considering I haven't had a chance to download it. UG's Golden Torrent week is still going almost 48 hours after the expected cutoff.

those missing files [dahjee] are correct.
they are unlicensed ports of MSX games released in Korea.
they need a special memory adapter to run on a SG1000.
As far as i know, these ROMs are not available in ROM form.
the other missing ROMs, Zool (EU) and Scratch Golf (US).
are yet to be dumped.
Japanese versions of the same games are the Gamebase. So they probably only differ by a few bytes in the header.
