I just prefer pictures to be pictures..
And frontends like GameBasePlayer can show coverscans alongside the screenshots, can't do that if they are locked away in pdfs.

@sut: Well, it is pretty weird as these files should either not be included in the first place or be named this way. Where did you find this GBCPC download ? I have the feeling it is a modified version.
- spellbound: I do not have a satisfying CDT transfer of the game, so the file is not included in GBCPC. I have a 100% Wav file, but I am still hesitating adding Wav files for tape games...
- There is not such thing as Space Crusade.dsk, the correct filename is Space Crusade - Disk 1A - English.dsk
- same for BCM el buscador de codigo (I never added the English release in the database...). The correct file link is BCM el buscador de codigo.dsk
- As for the Knight Force AVI, it should not even be included in GBCPC since the release of CPCE does not play Knight Force...
I really wish people stopped modifying GBCPC without my consent (I clearly stated so in the readme), especially when I have to clean up their mess...
If anyone feels like modifying my work, contact me first, that will avoid lame releases such as this one & would be at least courteous. If the modifications are pertinent I will add them & that will prevent doing the work multiple times. If they are not, don't assume you know what is best for my project.
Nothing to do with you Sut, by the way, just the people defacing my project are truly getting on my nerves.
Loïc
PS @Belgarath: I finally received a reply from Kukulcan, so I will PM you the method for extracting the JPGs tomorrow.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply, I thought I had downloaded from your previous link but obviously not, so sorry cannot recall where I downloaded it from.
I shall update the Gamebase as per your reply. I'm presuming Spellbound shouldn't even be on your Gamebase as yet ?
If so I will remove and await the official releases
Great work by the way

@sut: No problem. For Spellbound, the filename is correct, but I never released the file & I might end up releasing the .WAV file in the end. As for the next official release, I am very close to signing the contract for my new job & signing the lease for the appartment, so hopefully I should be back in action shortly. Thanks for the kind word, by the way.

Sorry for the double post, but I figured I should ask what people think about using .WAV files in GBCPC.
Would you rather have original WAV or CDT transfers ? WAV files are about 10 times bigger than CDTs and cannot be read by some emulators (at least Winape & Caprice32 cannot play them as far as I am aware).
That being said, i use CPCE mainly, which has no trouble reading them & I could include many more original tape transfers in GBCPC (dlfrsilver, hERMOL & JMD have transferred many tapes to WAV format).
Let me know what you think,
Loïc

I suppose the big question is if there is a drop off in quality or if the quality is identical. I personally feel fine if the files are larger providing they are the same quality as your other releases as HDD space is alot cheaper these days and I would presume even when your Gamebase is complete it would fit on a DVD.
PS. looking forward to your next release already

@sut: well, both are 100% reliable. Of course if I have a CDT version of a game, I will use this one. I was only talking about using WAV files for the ones I can't find CDT files for. that being said, dlfrsilver is helping convert WAV files to CDT, so the point might be moot (aside from a few games, most should be transferrable).

Greetings,
I finally did it... I started my new job yesterday & will be in training for the week. After that, I will be moving to Nice (on July 28 ). I don't think I will have internet access for about a month, though.
As for the good news, I have found a few interesting originals & I still have some boxes to sift through. I will probably start work on GBCPC begining of August & should have an update in September / October.

Hi everyone, I am alive & well, even if real life (tm) have caught up with me...
Well, I have done abolutely nothing since I moved to Nice (I just spend my days & nights working). That being said, I think that in my current state, it would do me some good to get back on the project.
The real problem is once again linked to the conversion for all my originals, but I am in contact with dlfrsilver to set something up.
As always, if a CPC afficionado can provide me with a PC to transfer all my originals, I am all ears (buying, trading, gift...)
I hae rececived a lot of very rare games since I came back to France & am impatient to let everybody enjoy these classics. The problem is, that could take quite a bit of time...
So here it is, I have not abandonned the project (I stand by what said in one of my previous post: I will never stop work on GBCPC), but that might take a lot of time.
Well, here are the news from the front. hopefully I wil have more news to cheer everybody up...

Hi all,
I have decided to make the GBCPC V5 release before I reach 600 games. Instead I will mostly work on correcting the database, replacing scans, adding original disks... That being said & since timing in CPCE is not quite up to par, I have removed all the snp videos. I will re-record them when CPCE gets up there (thanks to CNGSoft for his hard work).
Sensey will also probably help me open a blog (yes I really am that bad when it comes to the internet). I will also put GPCPC on Olivier Deleauvive's website when I have V5 finished (Olivier, if you read this, email me back, I have lost all my emails...).
@all: I am open to trades (only originals on disks & that are complete) if you PM me your list

Hi all,
Goog news ! I finally received my cargo from the US. I now have all my CPC games at home. And about time, too...
Next release will take quite some time, but I will try to add some really nice games (Hurlement, Pepe Bequilles, Ranarama,...).
I am also experimenting with blogging, so I might end up blogging rather than post in forums.
Cheers,
Loic

Hi all,
Work on GBCPC is progressing nicely as I have modified some of the scripts. I also intend to update it with all the original transfers that have been made in the past months (hint: a lot).
I have also created a blog on blogspot (
http://gamebasecpc.blogspot.com/). It is in French, but if there are enough requests, I can also translate in English (I am a bit lazy, see...).
A shiny new GBCPC release should happen relatively soon, so keep checking this forum.
Cheers,
Loïc
