PROBLEMS Setting up Joystick

Please help me setup my joystick. I can not get it to work. I think I must press F9 go to INPUT and then what?

I purchased a plug and play on your pc controllor(joystick) at Best Buy for $15. Okay here's how I got mine to work. Push F9 , go to to options, then input push enter. Set Controller Port 1 to NONE. Set Controller Port 2 to Joystick, then Mode is Adaptor Port 1. Finnally go to Callibrate joysticks ,The key is to get the plus symbol in the center, That's it Hope this helps.Then just push escape untill you see continue then play game/ Enjoy
