Yes there are indeed some publishers which do have single quotes in the name, e. g. the German mag "64'er":
(and in case you didn't know, this is what has been confusing mySQL from its "birth")

- Go to Advanced Search
- Enter "64'er" (without double quotes) into the Publisher field
- Press "Go" button

You'll get over 450 results.

Now go to page 1, 2, 3 >>> boom.
You'll get "search returned no games" and the publisher field will show a whopping sort of "64\\\\\\\'er" text.

Would be nice if this could be fixed. Thanks.

It looks like the problem is in the routine that accepts input from the web form.. this would be whatever inserts those backslash characters and prints "Alpha-numeric characters only please!"

The SQL query works perfectly fine. For example, here is the link for the fourth page:

http://www.gb64.com/search.php?a=6&adv_game_name=&adv_game_name_t=2&adv_year=0&adv_publisher=64%27er&adv_publisher_t=2&adv_musician=&adv_musician_t=2&adv_programmer=&adv_programmer_t=2&adv_language=0&adv_genre=0&adv_cracker=&adv_cracker_t=2&adv_players=0&adv_max_players=0&adv_control=&adv_display=&adv_trained=0&adv_highscore=0&adv_loading_screen=0&adv_18=0&adv_TDE=0&adv_Doc=0&adv_game_file=0&adv_sid_file=0&adv_working=0&t=&f=&d=18&h=0&p=3

Chage that last value "p=3" to "p=5" to get to the sixth page, etc.

thanks, but I know of this ugly workaround already icon_wink.gif

it is very awkward to advance pages that way, so what is needed is a proper fix!

usually it also happens that the backslashes are added up to the URL, which also explains that there are no results anymore after a couple of sub-pages!
