How did you get the screenshot for Imperial Walker?

I can't get the game to run on anything using your or my image

The disk won't boot if you don't have BASIC (revision A) either as a real cartridge in your Atari or attached as an image in your emulator. You can get the ROM here.

Ah, excellent info, I have a,b and c versions of basic.

I wonder how many games suffer from this problem across the various versions of basic. Apparently version is meant to be pretty good..

Thanks .Mad

I was trying to run game Black Lamp. Before first run it asked me to choose which version I want (it contains 3 versions, I choose v3). But it does not run on Altirra nor Atari800Win. Now I can't even change to v2 or v1 before run (where it saves my choice to not ask again ?)

Screen from Altirra:

Many games I run on Altirra shows such message:

Is this really good choice to run them on Altirra, instead of Atari800Win or does it need more configuration on my side ?

And last question to creator.... What the differencies between v6 and v7 ? I mean only Games. How many games You added since v6 ? I'm asking because v7 creates more problems to run games (at least for me).

To select another version of a game, right click on the game and select game file, you will now have a choice to select another version.

You can chose to select another default emulator in the Gemus/manage emulators dropdown.

As for the diference between v6 and v7, there are also some extra screenshots and manuals. The reason for adding multiple game files was to give more choice to the user. Some versions run better on diferent emulators. With version 7 i added the Altirra emulator which is fastly become the best emulator for Atari 400/800 emulation.

Some times you need to change emulator configurations, because not all games work on all systems. Some rerquire basic, and some wont work with it on. Some games require more memory, and a piticular Bios rom. You should find most games run with a bit of playing around.

you could download the lastest version of altirra from http://virtualdub.org/blog/pivot/entry.php?id=289#body

Beta version are getting released all the time.

Hope this helps you out

From the screenshot it seems you are using the HLE inbuilt bios, as Mark says swap the settings in Hardware and system around.

Most compatible are :-

Hardware 800
System OSB
Memory 48K

Or

Hardware XL
System 600/800Xl
Memory either 64 or 128k

Those should fix most stuff, if you see a (b) in the file name then that means it needs basic which you will see under system.

To be honest, if it does not work on Altirra (latest version) then it's unlikely it actually works on a real Atari let alone 800win...

Altirra is most likely the most compatible emulator out there, it may lack (at the moment) some of the extra's that 800win plus has but as far as accuracy it's spot on...

I remember the times, when I ran maany XL/XE games on Atari800Win and never had problems. Not even used a complicated configurations, except (mostly) SIO PATCH ENABLED and BASIC DISABLED :), rest of options was standard. And I ran hundreds of XL/XE games on it. So my first impressions with Altirra was worse, than Atari800Win (maany times seen debugger :P), but I need a time to experience with it, and firstly I try to run games with such options as suggested by Paul Irvine (yep, I've used "HLE inbuilt bios", when screenshot was made) :)

Tnx to Your both.

I always modify my GameBase's configurations to "compatible" with my paths by modifying Emulators.ini (paths and choosing default emulator) and Paths.ini (for paths) instead of GameBase GUI. It's more simplier and faster for me.

hardmanm: Your work is VERY HIGHLY appreciated by me :)

My pleasure..

If you take into account how old Atari800win Plus is, I was beta testing it when it was just Atari800win all those years ago, well Altirra is already more accurate within about a year of coding and not based on the Atari800 sources.

It started out as a pet project for Avery..

You worked hard on it, so You deserve to credits (IMO - much more).

Finally I solved my problem with Altirra.

System/Video/PAL must be enabled to play games. This option was disabled by default and I experienced with other options (firmware/memory/disk drive) and it did not help. I did not know that I should enable PAL option. So, everything is working great :)
