Hope he goes for it but it may go the same was as the idea to run .bas files directly in Altirra
As the headers for the CLOAD .cas files seem to be unique I've ran the idea of automating the files internally in Altirra. I'm hoping he thinks it's a good idea as it would help newbies or people who have forgotten who don't know about CLOAD to load them.hardmanm wrote:I don't know which ones they are, but maybe add something to the script to sort it.

I have been very busy on this gamebase lately, and hope to have a release in a couple of months time. Here is a list of updates:
All .bas files have been replaced with .atr, allowing all games to be run in Altirra, this is due to a lot of hard work by Paul Irvine.
Gamebase now uses version 1.3 of gamebase, allowing alot more features.
Much improved scripts to allow better compatability, when launching games. I'm using a modified version of K.C's atari800 script for atari800 and atari800win. I'm also working on a much improved Altirra script. I want all games to load without user intervention, where possible.
Altirra is being improved all the time, the latest version will be included making better compatability.
Cover art work is now visiable with screen shots thanks to new features with gamebase 1.3.
Many more scanned manuals have been added too, as well as game covers.
At the moment i'm testing every game within the gamebase and applying any revelant key=values to make better compatability.
I may stick some screens shots on here soon to give you an idea of to new look.
stay tuned to this space

Nice one Mark...Looking forward to it, any help wanted just ask although there nothing I can do for the CLOAD bas games.
Make sure you look at the Altirra command line options if you have not recently, there's loads of new ones that may help...

I have been spending many man hours improving the Atari800 gamebase and hope to have then next version released within the next week or so. I have done a lot of testing, more than ever before.
Version 8 will be the first to use the 1.3 version of gamebase due for offical release soon, and Altirra 1.6.

Sorry for the rant, I'm just so enthusiastic over Atari800! Thanks again!!
Awesome! I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate all the hard work you and others have done to bring this GameBase up to such high quality. A800 holds a very special place in me from my childhood and with my entire family. Having thisGB archive that you have clearly spent quality time on is very appreciated!! Thank you so very much and thanks to everyone who has contributed and helped out on this gamebase. I play a game on it atleast once a week time permitting. My favorite being the Lucasfilm games (Koronis Rift (This game REALLY NEEDS a update, not talking about the retroremake remake, like LucasArts making a NEW Koronis rift, or Rescue on Fractalus, and a new Ballblazer (better than the PSX upgrade).hardmanm wrote:I have been spending many man hours improving the Atari800 gamebase and hope to have then next version released within the next week or so. You almost got your wish for a Rescue on Frac update, when you load the PSX BallBlazer update you will have seen the sort of intro that was done in true Rescue of Fraculas style.
From a forum chat I had with the man himself from Factor 5 back in 1999.

>That´s not entirely true, Paul
. Return to Fractalus became Star Wars: Rogue Squadron for the N64. The landscape engine is without fractalisation, because - alas, the N64 once again was not powerful enough. But it finally seems to be there with Nintendo Dolphin and PlayStation 2....
Oops, I stand corrected, we did indeed have a long conversation re this in Jan. I think I need a memory upgrade
----------------------------------------------------
So as you see there was to be a newer Fractulas but Lucas deemed that idea out of hand and Factor 5 used the code for the Rouge series..
Sad to see that Factor 5 have now folded in the US
