Feature Request

Thu Dec 30, 2004 4:34 am

Not so much of a feature but more like a removal of limitations...

Is it possible to lift the strict naming conventions for the front end for use with other images.

I have a ton I made myself that I know work fine but even when I rename them to what the frontend wants it doesn't want to recognize them as Valid.

Is there some copyright issue here?

Why can't we just point to the specific file we have and save it in the database?

just click the bottom left hand corner where the filename is and select the file you want

Tried that....

Thu Dec 30, 2004 7:16 pm

And it lists the files and I select it..

Don't get an OK button and I get this error...

There was an unexpected error whilst reading from this archive.

Invalid property value (Err 380,6)

I'm suspecting it's something else though because I have DLed a version of Maniac Mansion from the link on this site that is supposed to work and it still won't recognize it properly...right name but I still get the error...
Maybe I should post this in the help forum then

Tried it with my own images
Get the same error...
Definitly doesn't work with any of my files...
And now that it is not working with a file it should I'm beginning to think something else is wrong now...

yep

yep it's not that...

I'm still a newbie to the gamebase proggie but have been using emulators for years...

I'm not sure if I have everything set up right...I got the screenshots working correctly but had problems with that too...I'll just have to get some more ROMS that it's meant to run with to do some effective testing...

Right now I have been using the maniac Mansion that I got that is supposed to work. I'll have to try some others.

I also tried unzipping the files to a new folder and setting up the path to point to it but no go...

GB is looking for Zip files.

problem is there are so many versions out there that don't follow the naming conventions and checksums (because some guy added to the zip) that it doesn't like them...
I Know the program is made to work with the original disks which I don't have yet...

On an unrelated topic where is the list of missing files around here?
I have a ton of stuff I might be able to fill. I've got well over 300 disks (c64 ddisks 1581) filled to the brim with programs! LOL

Next step is to get the cable to run the drives on the PC! LOL
I already bought a stelladaptor for the joysticks!

update

Sat Jan 01, 2005 9:24 pm

Just to update,

I got a copy of the game disk meant to work with GB64 and have it all working. My problem was two fold, one was I didn't have a checkbox selected to unzip files, and second was the fact that my zips were not official zips it wanted. once I got the official disk and set the path to it it found every game.

Thanks for your help wayne
Seems I'm good to go!

Glad you got it working. Obviously you need the "official" game files for it to work automatically, but it should have worked when you tried to replace them with your own versions. GB does not use checksums in the game files, it just looks for the filenames.

Yeah I think the unzip checkbox was the key to my problem....

Works great now!
