I have installed GB 1.3 in D:\GameBase.
1. Would you recommend putting the folders of the various game bases in that folder or not?
ALL core gamebase setup and MDB files MUST be in the install location folder.
it's reccomended to install gamebase at the root of the drive partition.
c:\gamebase, d:\gamebase
other files... GAMES, EXTRAS, MUSIC...
can be anywhere you have the HD space.
e:\roms\nintendo\nes
but personally, i would keep all gamebase files together.
to avoid unpack /rezip errors, do not install to folders with long names and spaces.
c:\retrojj gamebase collections\
2. What is the best way to view/modify a gamebase MDB?
The current version of MS Access does not want to open them.
If you wish to edit the mdb in newer Access, you need to update and convert the mdb file.
the original gamebase MDB's are ACCESS97 format.
Access 2003 has an option to convert them to newer version.
this will allow you to open in a newer version and convert it again to latest Access version.
